Artist Statement

While creating a design, I reference a large collection of vintage floral ephemera, like postcards, books, floral fabrics, and wallpapers. I’m interested in reinterpreting classic floral motifs; making new designs that feel ordinary at first glance but are uncanny upon closer examination.

About Evan Paul English

Evan Paul English (he/him) is an interdisciplinary artist currently working and residing in Brooklyn, New York.

His practice includes painting, sculpture, tattoos, wallpaper and textile design. Born and raised in rural Idaho, much of his work is informed by his past surroundings. As a collector of vintage American ephemera, such as textiles, postcards and wallpapers, he references the canon of American nostalgia while creating his own visual language in his designs.
